Battle of Normandy

The belligerents wounded the summer of forty-four.
Sixth day of the sixth month came with thunder,
When soldiers stormed the shores of Normandy.
Three million men were ready for battle.
The eastern coast and Gold Beach were invaded by the royals,
The west was attacked by the monarchs together
With the freedom fighters and nine others
Who paved the way for a mighty empire to fall.
Three full moons went by unnoticed before it ended
But pain had just begun for the mothers who lost their sons,
For the wives who lost their husbands, for children
Who lost their fathers and brothers in a war they never wanted.
Sixty five years after the world witnessed the wounded summer,
The allies and the warriors of eagle in burning red
Honored and remembered not for who they fought for
But for their unquestionable fearlessness and rare courage
Fighting the battle until the last drop of their blood
Bathed the sea in crimson, stained the pure white sands
And carved their most valiant moments in triumph and defeat.
